Construction Dream Cloud Kildare Opening Hours
The DreamCloud has an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to supply the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all the different materials at play here, I am stoked to get into these layers to understand how well they interact together. Dream Cloud Kildare Opening Hours
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester mix for a luxuriously soft feel up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant relaxation.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of foam. While these segments are soft to the touch and provide some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel stuck in the bed. The middle of the three layers is especially essential because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is good at dissipating heat, so the addition of these small ventilations encourages more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of polyurethane transitions into the firmer support section of this mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the bed excellent rebound and assist disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also assist in regulating temperatures as the distances between them permit continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found at the bottom of the mattress, with the major function of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a solid foundation for the entire mattress.
After having a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by putting light hand pressure into the bed and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hands flowed into the material and I could sense some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a pleasant lift from these springs.
Now I want to note that people of different body types and shapes will sense firmness differently. Rather than giving just my opinion on the general firmness level of the DreamCloud, I invited three additional people to give their view as well. This will provide you with a better feeling of the firmness range you may see from the mattress.
As you can find in the graph above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the firmness of this mattress, giving it an average rating of 7.75. Compared to the market norm of 6.5 for medium firmness and it’s clear that this bed is pretty firm.
I personally gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the other testers that it is definitely a good bed. While you’ll feel some small sinking from the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the core will lift you from this mattress and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
Rather than simply explaining the feel of the DreamCloud for you, I chose to give a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do this, I put a pressure map above the bed and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can find the outcomes on the picture below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my backside, my weight was evenly dispersed throughout the mattress, so I did not feel like I was sinking into the mattress at all. The quilted cover provided quality relief at my lumbar region and also the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, once I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my hips and shoulders. However, I felt supported and the top foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Switching over to my belly, I believed that the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips up and from the mattress, which can be crucial for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I managed to transition across these positions with relative ease.
If you plan on sharing your bed with a partner, you’ll want to know what it’ll feel like when the other individual crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around at nighttime. This next test is intended to demonstrate the intensity of movement that’s detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. Dream Cloud Kildare Opening Hours
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a little bit of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly larger spikes, I’d still regard the mattress to be pretty good at isolating motion, as a result of its individually wrapped coils. This means that you’re not likely to be too disturbed by your mattress mate’s midnight shimmies, which makes this an awesome option for couples.
When buying a new mattress, the majority of men and women wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking”into” the bed or lying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put 4 balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, along with a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, weight and density are supposed to simulate distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dream Cloud Kildare Opening Hours
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re going to experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll find the wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combination will interest a wide assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.
If you are going to share your bed with a spouse and need to use the entire surface area of the mattress, it’s going to be crucial for you to consider the amount of edge support it’ll give you.
I’m particularly interested to see if the DreamCloud will endure the exact same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to fulfill the edge support of more traditional innerspring versions.
Laying on my back, I felt just as supported at the edge of the bed as I did in the middle. Going closer to the side, I experienced a bit of compression due to the highest foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Changing to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over into the wrapped coil system under. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a good job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on top of the mattress in the morning when you’re tying your shoes and getting ready for the day. A lot of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly well.
