As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills many of our criteria for what a excellent bed should provide. With eight exceptional layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud utilizes all the proper materials in its construction. Dream Cloud Image
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives good airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Resting below are a mixture of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this bed includes better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Even though it uses multiple memory foam layers, there’s no hug or significant contouring to the mattress. If you are searching to sink into a mattress, then move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support center keeps you aligned all night long, particularly so for all you back sleepers on the market.

Construction Dream Cloud Image
The DreamCloud features a tall profile for a mattress at a humongous 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down to foam and wrapped coil parts, which operate in tandem to provide the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and lots of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all of the distinct materials at play , I am stoked to get into these layers to see how well they interact with one another. Dream Cloud Image
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft feel up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with immediate pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of foam. While these segments are soft to the touch and provide some satisfying sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel trapped in the mattress. The center of these three layers is particularly essential because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s made up of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is good at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of those small ventilations encourages more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of polyurethane transitions into the firmer support section of this mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the mattress excellent bounce and help disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also aid in moderating temperatures as the distances between them permit steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found at the base of the mattress, with the main function of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a solid foundation for the entire mattress.
After having a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying mild hand pressure to the bed and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hand sunk into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to interact with all the pocketed coils below and experienced a pleasant lift from the springs.
At this point I’d like to note that people of different body types and shapes will sense firmness differently. Rather than giving only my view on the overall firmness level of this DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to present their opinion too. This will give you a much better sense of the firmness range you may expect from the mattress.
As you can see in the chart above, the testers were in agreement about the firmness of the DreamCloud, giving it an average rating of 7.75. Compare this to the industry norm of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it is apparent that this mattress is pretty firm.
I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and agree with the rest of the testers that it is definitely a good bed. At the same time you’ll feel some slight sinking because of the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the core will lift you from this bed and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
As opposed to just describing the feel of the DreamCloud to you, I wanted to give a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points shape while lying on it. To do so, I placed a pressure map on top of the bed and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can see the results on the picture below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my backside, my weight was evenly distributed throughout the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the mattress at all. The quilted cover provided quality relief at my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming in my hips and shoulders. But, I still felt supported and the top foam layers relieved what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my belly, I thought the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips up and out of the mattress, which can be crucial for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I was able to transition across these positions with relative ease.
If you plan on sharing your bed with a spouse, you will want to know what it’ll feel like if another person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around at night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the intensity of motion that’s detectable from one side of the mattress from another. Dream Cloud Image
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then quantified the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a small amount of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone tossing around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly bigger spikes, I’d still regard the mattress to be quite good at isolating movement, as a result of its individually wrapped coils. This means you’re not likely to be too disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, making this a great solution for couples.
While purchasing a new mattress, most men and women want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking”into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed 4 balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, along with a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress then quantified how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, weight and density are supposed to simulate distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dream Cloud Image
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re going to experience some instant sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a wide assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
If you are going to share your mattress with a partner and need to utilize the entire surface area of the mattress, then it’s going to be crucial that you consider the amount of edge support it will give you.
I’m particularly interested to determine whether the DreamCloud will endure the exact same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to fulfill the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt just as supported at the edge of the bed as I did at the center. Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a little compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Changing to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over into the wrapped coil system below. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a good job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on the mattress in the morning when you are tying your shoes and getting ready for work. A good deal of foam mattresses experience a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly well.
