Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud meets many of our standards for what a quality bed should provide. With 8 exceptional layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud utilizes all of the right materials in its construction. Dream Cloud Facebook
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides great airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Resting below are a mixture of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this bed includes better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid beds.
Despite the fact that it uses multiple memory foam layers, there’s no hug or significant shaping to the bed. If you’re looking to sink into a mattress, then move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support center keeps you aligned all night long, especially for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dream Cloud Facebook
The DreamCloud has a tall profile for a mattress at a humongous 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down to foam and wrapped coil parts, which operate in tandem to supply the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all the different materials at play , I’m stoked to dive into these layers to understand how well they interact together. Dream Cloud Facebook
Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft feel up top. Additionally, it is quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with immediate relaxation.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you will find three thin layers of foam. While these segments are soft to the touch and supply some satisfying sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel stuck in the mattress. The center of these three layers is particularly essential because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s made up of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is great at releasing heat, so the addition of those small ventilations encourages even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of polyurethane transitions into the firmer support section of the mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the mattress excellent rebound and assist disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also assist in regulating temperatures as the distances between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the base of the mattress, with the major use of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a sound foundation for the entire mattress.
After taking a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and feel. I started off by applying mild hand pressure into the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hands sunk into the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a pleasant lift from these springs.
Now I want to note that people of different body shapes and types will sense firmness differently. As opposed to giving only my view on the overall firmness level of this DreamCloud, I invited three additional people to present their opinion as well. This will provide you with a better sense of the firmness range you may see from the mattress.
As you can see in the graph above, the testers were in agreement about the stability of the DreamCloud, giving it a mean score of 7.75. Compared to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it’s apparent that this bed is pretty firm.
Personally, I gave the mattress a 7.5 and concur with the other testers that it is definitely a good bed. At the same time you’ll feel some small sinking because of the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the core will lift you from this mattress and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
As opposed to simply explaining the feel of this mattress to you, I wanted to provide a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points form while lying on the mattress. To do so, I put a pressure map above the bed and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can find the outcomes on the picture below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my back, my weight was equally dispersed throughout the mattress, so I did not feel like I was sinking into the mattress in any way. The quilted cover gave quality relief in my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the mattress and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, once I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my hips and shoulders. However, I felt supported and the top foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my belly, I thought that the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and out of the bed, which can be crucial for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I managed to transition across these positions with relative ease.
If you intend on sharing your bed with a partner, you will want to find out what it will feel like if the other person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the intensity of motion that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress from the other. Dream Cloud Facebook
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a little bit of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates somebody tossing around and adjusting their position on the other side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly bigger spikes, I’d still consider the mattress to be pretty good at isolating movement, as a result of its individually wrapped coils. This indicates that you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your mattress mate’s midnight shimmies, making this an awesome option for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, the majority of people want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking”into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I put four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress then quantified how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to simulate distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dream Cloud Facebook
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re going to encounter some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll find the wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
If you are going to share your bed with a partner and will need to utilize the entire surface area of the mattress, it’s likely to be crucial that you consider the amount of edge support it’ll give you.
I am especially interested to see if the DreamCloud will suffer the exact same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to live up to the edge support of more traditional innerspring versions.
Lying on my back, I felt just as supported in the edge of the mattress as I did in the middle. Pressing closer to the side, I felt a little compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the coil system below. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on top of the bed in the morning when you are lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A good deal of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly well.
