Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills many of our standards for what a quality bed should provide. With eight exceptional layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud utilizes all the right materials in its construction. Dream Cloud Ex
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides great airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Resting below are a mix of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress contains better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Even though it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there is no hug or significant contouring to the bed. If you’re looking to sink into a mattress, proceed from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, especially so for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dream Cloud Ex
The DreamCloud has an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to supply the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and lots of comfy pressure relief.
Given all the distinct materials at play here, I am stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact with one another. Dream Cloud Ex
Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft feel up top. It’s also built with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with immediate relaxation.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you will find three thin layers of foam. While these sections are soft to the touch and supply some satisfying sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel trapped in the bed. The middle of the three layers is especially important because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is made up of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is good at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these small ventilations promotes more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of polyurethane transitions into the firmer support segment of the mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also assist in regulating temperatures as the spaces between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies in the bottom of the mattress, with the main function of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid foundation for the entire mattress.
After having a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and feel. I started off by applying mild hand pressure into the bed and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hands sunk into the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I began to interact with all the pocketed coils below and experienced a nice lift from the springs.
At this point I’d like to note that people of different body types and shapes will feel firmness differently. Rather than giving just my opinion on the general firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to give their opinion as well. This will give you a much better sense of the firmness range you can see from the bed.
As you can find in the graph above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of this mattress, giving it an average score of 7.75. Compared to the industry standard of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it’s clear that this bed is really firm.
I personally gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the rest of the testers that it’s definitely a solid bed. At the same time you’ll feel some slight sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the center will lift you from this bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
As opposed to simply explaining the feel of the DreamCloud to you, I chose to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do so, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my backside, and tummy. You can find the outcomes on the image below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my backside, my weight was equally dispersed across the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the bed in any way. The quilted cover gave quality relief at my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped lift me from the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, once I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming in my hips and shoulders. However, I felt supported and the top foam layers alleviated what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Switching over to my stomach, I believed the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips upward and out of the mattress, which can be crucial for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I was able to shift across these positions with comparative ease.
If you plan on sharing your bed with a partner, you’ll want to find out what it will feel like when another individual crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the night. This next test is intended to demonstrate the intensity of movement that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress from another. Dream Cloud Ex
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a little bit of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly bigger spikes, I’d still regard the mattress to be quite good at isolating movement, thanks to its individually wrapped coils. This indicates that you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your mattress partner’s midnight shimmies, making this a great option for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, most men and women wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking”into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I put four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to mimic different body parts and different sized sleepers. Dream Cloud Ex
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re going to experience some instant sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combo will interest a wide assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
If you’re going to share your bed with a spouse and need to utilize the entire surface area of the mattress, it’s going to be crucial for you to think about the amount of edge support it’ll give you.
I am particularly interested to see whether the DreamCloud will suffer the exact same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to live up to the edge support of more conventional innerspring versions.
Laying on my back, I felt just as supported at the edge of the bed as I did in the center. Going closer to the side, I felt a little compression due to the top foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the wrapped coil system beneath. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you are tying your shoes and getting ready for work. A good deal of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly good.
