Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud meets many of our criteria for what a quality mattress must provide. With eight unique layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud uses all the right materials in its construction. Dream Cloud Clipart
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides great airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Resting below are a mix of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress contains better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Despite the fact that it uses multiple memory foam layers, there’s no hug or significant contouring to the mattress. If you’re searching to sink into a mattress, move on from the DreamCloud.

Construction Dream Cloud Clipart
The DreamCloud has an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a humongous 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down to foam and wrapped coil parts, which operate in tandem to provide the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and lots of comfy pressure relief.
Given all the distinct materials at play here, I’m stoked to get into these layers to understand how well they interact with one another. Dream Cloud Clipart
Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester mix for a soft feel up top. It’s also built with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of foam. While these segments are soft to the touch and provide some pleasing sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel trapped in the mattress. The center of these three layers is especially essential for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s made up of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is good at releasing heat, so the addition of these small ventilations encourages more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of polyurethane transitions into the firmer support section of the mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the bed excellent rebound and assist to disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also aid in moderating temperature as the spaces between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the bottom of the mattress, with the major use of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid foundation for the entire mattress.
After having a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying mild hand pressure to the mattress and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hands flowed into the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I started to interact with all the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a nice lift from the springs.
Now I want to let you know that people of different body shapes and types will sense firmness differently. Rather than giving only my view on the general firmness level of the mattress, I invited three other individuals to give their view too. This will provide you with a better feeling of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
As you can find in the graph above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of the DreamCloud, giving it an average score of 7.75. Compared to the market standard of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it is apparent that this mattress is really firm.
Personally, I gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the rest of the testers that it’s definitely a solid mattress. At the same time you’ll feel some slight sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the core will lift you out of this bed and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
Rather than just describing the feel of the mattress for you, I chose to provide a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points shape while lying on it. To do this, I put a pressure map above the bed and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can see the results on the picture below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my backside, my weight was equally distributed across the mattress, therefore I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the bed in any way. The quilted cover gave quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped lift me from the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming in my hips and shoulders. But, I felt supported and the top foam layers alleviated what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Switching over to my belly, I thought the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and from the mattress, which can be key for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I was able to shift across these positions with relative ease.
If you intend on sharing your mattress with a spouse, you will want to know what it will feel like if the other person crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around during the night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the intensity of movement that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. Dream Cloud Clipart
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a small amount of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates somebody rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly larger spikes, I would still regard the mattress to be pretty good at isolating movement, as a result of the individually wrapped coils. This means that you’re not likely to be too disturbed by your mattress partner’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great option for couples.
When buying a new bed, the majority of people wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking”into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, along with a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress then quantified how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers. Dream Cloud Clipart
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re going to experience some instant sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to find the wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
If you are going to share your mattress with a spouse and need to utilize the entire surface area of the mattress, then it’s going to be crucial that you think about the amount of edge support it’ll give you.
I am especially interested to determine whether the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to live up to the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.
Laying on my back, I felt as supported at the edge of the mattress as I did at the middle. Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a bit of compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over to the wrapped coil system beneath. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a good job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A good deal of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly well.
