As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills many of our standards for what a excellent mattress must have. With eight unique layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud uses all the right materials in its construction. Cancel Order Dreamcloud
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides good airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mixture of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress contains better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Despite the fact that it uses multiple memory foam layers, there’s not any hug or significant contouring to the bed. If you’re looking to sink into a mattress, then proceed from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, especially so for all you back sleepers on the market.

The DreamCloud has a tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down to foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all the distinct materials at play , I’m stoked to get into these layers to see how well they interact with one another. Cancel Order Dreamcloud
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester mix for a soft feel up top. Additionally, it is built with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant relaxation.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of polyurethane. While these segments are soft to the touch and supply some pleasing sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel stuck in the bed. The middle of these three layers is particularly important because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s made up of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is good at releasing heat, so the inclusion of those tiny ventilations encourages even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of foam transitions into the firmer support segment of the mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the mattress excellent rebound and assist disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also aid in regulating temperatures as the spaces between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found in the base of the mattress, with the main function of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a sound foundation for the whole mattress.
After having a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by putting light hand pressure to the mattress and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hand flowed into the material and I could sense some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with all the pocketed coils below and experienced a nice lift from these springs.
Now I want to let you know that people of different body shapes and types will sense firmness differently. Rather than giving just my view on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three additional people to give their view too. This will give you a much better sense of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
As you can find in the graph above, the testers were in agreement about the firmness of the mattress, giving it an average score of 7.75. Compare this to the market standard of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it is clear that this mattress is really firm.
Personally, I gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the other testers that it’s definitely a solid mattress. While you’ll feel some small sinking because of the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the core will lift you from this bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
Rather than just describing the feel of the mattress to you, I chose to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on the mattress. To do this, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can see the results on the picture below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my back, my weight was evenly dispersed throughout the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the bed at all. The quilted cover gave quality relief at my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my hips and shoulders. But, I felt supported while the top foam layers relieved what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my belly, I believed the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips upward and from the mattress, which is crucial for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I was able to transition across these positions with relative ease.
If you intend on sharing your mattress with a partner, you will want to know what it’ll feel like when another person crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around during the night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the intensity of movement that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. Cancel Order Dreamcloud
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a little bit of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly larger spikes, I’d still consider the mattress to be pretty good at isolating movement, thanks to the individually wrapped coils. This indicates you’re unlikely to be overly disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, which makes this an awesome option for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, the majority of people wish to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed 4 balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress then quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to simulate distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Cancel Order Dreamcloud
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re likely to experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to find the wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combo will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
If you are going to share your mattress with a partner and will need to use the whole surface area of the mattress, then it’s likely to be crucial that you consider the amount of edge support it’ll provide.
I’m especially interested to determine whether the DreamCloud will endure the exact same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to fulfill the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt just as supported at the edge of the bed as I did in the middle. Going closer to the side, I felt a bit of compression due to the highest foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over to the wrapped coil system beneath. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a good job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on top of the bed in the morning when you’re tying your shoes and getting ready for the day. A good deal of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly well.
