Granite Reclaimed from Dilworth Plaza

Franklin’s Paine was able to secure over 400 cubic feet of granite removed from Dilworth Plaza at City Hall for reinstall at the Paine’s Park site.  We are sad to see City Hall torn up, but grateful that these historic pieces of granite will continue to be skated in Philly for years to come.  We are still on track for a late spring ground breaking and will continue to update on our progress!

Second Community Meeting to Discuss Water Tower Skatepark Proposal

Join us this Monday, January 30th, 7pm at Water Tower Recreation Center located at 209 E. Hartwell Lane, 19118 in Chestnut Hill to discuss our proposal to develop permanent skate space in this location.  This meeting is a follow up from our initial community meeting that was held in November 2011.

Help us reach our $2,500 fundraising goal for the Gear for Groms Program by January 15th, 2012!

Community Meeting at Water Tower Recreation Center in Chestnut Hill

Join Franklin’s Paine and Philadelphia Parks and Recreation on Thursday, November 10th, 6:30pm at Water Tower Recreation Center for the first community meeting to discuss our skatepark proposal for the playground.  We will make a presentation to the community and then have an open discussion about the proposal.  We hope to see you there!

U.S. Championships of Freestyle Skateboarding Raise Funds for the Gear for Groms Program

On Saturday, September 10th the U.S. Championships of Freestyle Skateboarding were held at Miles Mack Playground in the Mantua section of West Philadelphia.  Youth and adults from ages 12 - 50 participated and all proceeds from the event went back to the Gear for Groms program.  Many thanks to all who attended and competed! 

US Champs of Freestyle Skateboarding

The US Championship of Freestyle Skateboarding is coming back to Philadelphia this year and will be held this Saturday, September 10th at Miles Mack Playground in Mantua from 1pm - 5pm.

Ambler Skatepark Breaks Ground!

In July 2011, The Borough of Ambler broke ground on a new skatepark located within Knight Park in Ambler, PA.  Jesse Clayton of Fifth Pocket, Inc is the builder of the project and is working in conjunction with Borough staff to develop the site.  Construction is anticipated to wrap sometime in early September!  Please stay tuned for more information on the progress of this project and future events on site.

The Borough of Ambler just broke ground on their new skatepark located in Knight Park at South Main Street and Bannockburn Avenue, but additional funds need to be raised to complete the project as designed and on schedule.
